The cyclists aim to complete the ride in six days, cycling from the capital, Lilongwe, northwards along the western side of Lake Malawi. Covering up to 100km in a day, they will be pushed to their limits, cycling in over 40˚C heat, all for a great cause.
WeSeeHope provide support for children in Southern and Eastern Africa who have been orphaned or isolated by extreme poverty. The London based team work closely with 26 local African project partners in 222 communities to provide these children with a network of emotional and social support and to equip them with an education, and vocational and business skills.
During the bike ride, the cyclists will stop at different projects that WeSeeHope supports, to better understand the work they do and to meet some of the beneficiaries.
Daemonn Brody, commercial director at Six Degrees Group, who is taking on the challenge, commented, ‘I am looking forward to getting on the bike in Malawi, to seeing a beautiful country, and to raising money for such a worthwhile charity. WeSeeHope is a cause close to 6DG’s heart and to witness their work will be a real honour and will inspire me to peddle harder and faster.’
Kasia Morgan, head of fundraising at WeSeeHope, stated, ‘Six Degrees and Qlik are two of our most significant corporate partners, and over the years they have created a brighter future for tens of thousands of young lives. It will therefore be a privilege to host this team of cyclists in Malawi, and introduce them to some of the children and the communities they’ve helped, whilst cheering them on during this epic challenge.’
