Aimed at all organisations, data destruction, whereby an electronic device such as a computer, tablet or phone is irreversibly cleansed of all data and information, is invaluable when needing to decommission or recycle equipment. The process gives organisations complete confidence that data cannot be compromised.

A 2012 study by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulatory body responsible for enforcing the Data Protection Act, found one in 10 second hand hard drives sold online contain personal information. There can be substantial fines for the mishandling of sensitive data. The ICO fined NHS Surrey £200,000 in 2013 after failing to check whether a data destruction company had properly disposed of records of over 3,000 patients. The patient records were found on a second hand NHS computer that was auctioned on eBay.

Utilising Trojan’s data destruction service, organisations can be certain that all data, especially data deemed sensitive, never falls into the wrong hands.

Clive Murphy (pictured), managing director of Trojan, said, ‘This is a rapidly growing requirement and one in which customers need the certainty that they are working with a trustworthy and reliable company, with the know-how to do this task professionally and correctly. Given our expertise, we know this service is a natural extension of our offering, and we have already had numerous inquiries from companies seeking a reliable partner in this field.’
