Commvault and Huawei extend partnership with new joint lab for development of data back up, recovery, archive and cloud solutions

Commvault senior vice president, worldwide sales, Ron Miller, and Huawei Technologies president, storage product line, Ruiqi Fan, were both present for the signing at the opening of Huawei Connect, Huawei’s integrated conference for the global ICT ecosystem. Chengdu is the headquarters of Huawei’s storage business.

Commvault and Huawei will commit personnel, software and hardware to the lab, which features both a testing and development centre and an executive briefing centre. In addition to ensuring full compatibility between the companies’ latest products, work at the lab will focus on incubating, testing and demonstrating cloud back up, Data Protection-as-a-Service and other innovative solutions that extend the companies’ ability to address their customers’ critical data protection and management needs.

‘Over the last few years Commvault and Huawei joint back up solution has been very successful, and we are very pleased to announce the establishment of the joint lab, said Ruigi Fan, ‘This represents a significant milestone on the path towards even closer collaboration. This lab will function as a platform for our continuous joint innovation, incubating Data Protection as a Service and data management solutions.’
